Lightbulb [SOLVED] Connecting Eurobattle.net on Ubuntu 12.04

I have just upgraited to Ubuntu 12.04 and now having alot of troubles connecting with the Eurobattle.net server. Before Ubuntu 12.04 I was with Ubuntu 10.04 running Warcraft III using wine 1.4 without almost any issues. After installing War3 I had installed an old eurobattle.net (I thing it was the eurobattle.net installer for version 1.24 /w3_battle124bfix2.exe/) and after that patched with the 1.26 version. So the installer set the server gateway and putted the exe for running War3 and it was fine. Now with 12.04 and wine 1.4 I had tried everything and read every thread according linux and nothing. I keep getting the error "There was an error patching war3.exe (Unable to read memory). Make sure you are using version 1.22a-1.25b.", even if I have patched with 1.25. What I have tried: Installing war3 (the ordinary way) , patching with 1.26 , installing the latest eurobattle.net installer - the upper error Installing war3 (the ordinary way) , installing the w3_battle124bfix2.exe , patching with 1.26 - the same error Copying the old war3 from ubuntu 10.04 and running eurobattle.exe - the same error Installing war3 (the ordinary way), patching with 1.26, checking what I have in the registry (BNET Gateway Editor) and trying to run Warcraft Frozen Throne exe - unable to connect the server , also tried with the w3lh.dll file (witch doesnt overwrite anything in the folder in this case) - still unable to connect, tries also with:
    4. Download and extract the archive in your w3 folder: http://bayfiles.com/file/2hsV/h44dyw/euroloader_man.zip Run the registry file. Run w3l.exe in order to play.
still - "There was an error patching war3.exe (Unable to read memory). Make sure you are using version 1.22a-1.25b." Somewhere i found a suggestion to update the version using the warcraft version switcher - the same error Also Installed war3 on Virtualbox, patched and installed latest eurobattle.net installer and copy it in ubuntu, run it with wine - same error I cant think of any other option to try. Actually "What I need to do with my War3 to play in Eurobattle.net?"
    1. The eurobattle.net server set in the registry (using BNET Gateway Editor)
    2. the 1.26 patch
    3. some crack which will enable war3 to connect unofficial servers

... anything else ? I did not mentioned anything about Gproxy , just it is optional and will give it a try after able to run eurobattle.net server Thanks to anyone getting involved in this mess!

The issue comes from euroloader.exe not being able to validate the version of Warcraft III, have you tried to uninstall the Eurobattle.net patch and reinstall it again?

So let's make it clear.. you get error when running the 1.26 patch right? This has nothing to do with our installer. Until you somehow manage to run the patch successfully, putting the loader and changing gateways in registry is useless because you don't have the correct W3 version.

Just to make it clear: I install everything properly and get the correct version running and still getting this error. Non of the installers and the patches gives an error.

    [HOW TO SOLVE IT]
    to fix this:
    Code:
    sudo gedit /etc/sysctl.d/10-ptrace.conf
    and at the bottom line
    Code:
    kernel.yama.ptrace_scope = 1
    change 1 to 0
reboot and everything works as a charm.

I am not sure for the exact reason of this issue/bug/bad configuration or I dont know how to call it. Maybe the coders can tell more about it and about the strange error message.
This fixed this error form me. Hope to help someone else.
