Warcraft problems on Vista

Hello everybody! I just want to ask if anybody here has had the problem as i do with warcraft 3. I have windows vista installed on my computer, and even if it is not a very good pc (amd athlon 3000+, 1.8ghz, 1gb, ati rad 9600) i could still run warcraft very good on windows xp. But now i have a strange problem on windows vista. My pc gets stuck a few times a day when i am in warcraft and i have to reboot and therefore i get unwanted bans in dota, i get loses in pg and so on. I tried to change my details in warcraft but it doesn't work. I believe it is because of my graphics card, i guess it does not support drivers for vista very well. Can you help me out with this problem?

try some software management programs like "speedupmypc" and "registry booster" from Uniblue , these will fix any errors in your registry .

also you may be missing the driver for the video card

I took the driver from ati.amd site, so it cannot be a bad one, but I really don't know what to say. Everything works just fine in vista, warcraft works with high details and resolution, but it just gets stuck in some moments and it's driving me crazy

Why did you install Vista, if your PC can't handle it, it will be very wise to reinstall Windows XP.

My pc handles it very well, as i told you before, it works just fine. Only warcraft has this problem, others don't have it

Well, right click on icon, then choose Properties, go Compatibility and choose Run this program in compatibility for.. and choose windows??? :S

I dont know is this stupid proposal, but try it ?

SameasEver how many RAM do you have ? you should know that i have 256 ram and windows xp , to play w3 in the best conditions i keep the minimum rezolution , lowest video settings and windows clasic theme to load faster when i alt tab :)


vista requires 512 ram to work properly ...... if u dont have at least 512 u shouldnt even play w3 ......

I have 1gb ram, I specified my computer's details in the first post. So anyway, I guess the only solution is to lower the details even more. Strange part is that my computer gets stucked mostly when I enter dota games, when i play pg it happens very rare.

sorry i was in a hurry :) with that computer u should have no problems playing w3 on vista with best graphics :) i bet its your video card .... the computer's hardware supports vista and w3 with best video settings :)

Yeah I thoght so, I said new drivers for my graphics card don't work the way they should do, I mean I have a slight feeling that my card gets overheated because of these new drivers and that would be the reason for my pc getting stuck. But here comes my problem, what on earth doesn't my graphics card accept new drivers and it only works with it original drivers from its original cd? I really can't figure it out.

here use this software :) http://www.drivershq.com/ its called driver detective and it detects what drivers u need and downloads them :) but its not free :)

I tried that too, but still no improvements at all. The driver is good, because I took it from here www.ati.amd.com , so it cannot be the wrong one.

take your motherboard and go to "elsaco computers" just above mcdonalds on "calea bucuresti" they will solve your problem .

we could stay here forever and guess what the problem is .......................... its more simple to take the pc to a qualified computer experts center ( elsaco computers ) :)

Ok thanks a lot, guess that is my last solution. That one or wait until i get a notebook ^^ By the way, I did not know you live in the same town as I do. What high school are you in?
