View Full Version : Rules clarification

A recent game has lead me wondering about the rules regarding kicking players from safelist games.

The rule book (http://eurobattle.net/showthread.php?t=54410) says using custom kick to remove a safelisted player from a game is not allowed. In this (http://eurobattle.net/showthread.php?t=73681&highlight=kick) thread the rule has been extended to cover the bot's !kick command as well (and any similar devices). Now, these are the rulings I could find covering kicking of SS players from an ongoing game.

The rulebook is silent on the issue of kicking players from the lobby, however. I believe it is at least allowed when the game in question is a remake of a previous, unfinished game (and the objective is to get the same players/teams/heroes). According to ss-Extasy, it is also allowed whenever the host wishes as long as the game is not hosted on an official safelist hostbot (regardless whether or not it's a safelist game), but I've not found any rulings on the issue.

So, in the interest of clarifying rules regarding this issue for all involved, and to see how the safelist players feel about them, I ask you: When is it, and when is it not okay to kick a player from a safelist game? When should it be OK?

No , really , some rules should be put about 'lobby' part of the game , so some people wouldn't feel special enough to do what they want there.

well, its never good to kick a player from safelist game, if he is afk too long, he can be booted out of game.

actually what can be the reason to kick someone from a game?

I told you next:

If its a private host, owner has right to chose who will play on it, who not BUT only if he wants to let ss player in. So he can kick you ONLY if safelisted player will take your place.

If its some of official ss hosts no one has right to kick you since no one is owner if it.

I'm not questioning your call there, or anything like that, I'm just wondering where can I find that rule? I checked the rulebook, searched for some old ban/rep req threads and I found nothing on the issue. It would be nice to have something written down that's available for everyone to see. I mean, how is anyone supposed to know how these things work when there's no way to find out except by asking the moderators?

It doesn't help that, say, in a situation like you describe, the game is in every other way an ordinary safelist game where all other safelist rules apparently apply. So, you can't allow backdooring, pooling, change the forfeiting rules or anything like that when the game is not on an official hostbot, but you can pick who gets to play. I'm not saying that's right or wrong, but it is counter intuitive and the only way to find out about a rule like that shouldn't be by asking a moderator - I'm sure you guys have better things to do than work as living rulebooks.

Isn't the point of having a rulebook that everyone knows the rules and can play by them?

omg...just add these lobby rules to the "rule book" and this down too if possible.
Lil_GringO;808785']guys,i dont know how you feel about it but i think we should apply the tour rules (item restrictions) to normal ss games:
- Each team may only have 2 Necronomicon
- Each team may only have 2 Eul’s, or 2 Guinsoo’s Scythe of Vyse, or 1 Eul’s and 1 Guinsoo’s Scythe of Vyse
- Each team may only have 1 Arcane Ring
- Each team may only have 1 Refresher
I lost my ****ing mind when we lost a game in which the enemy team had 3 guinsoos +lions hex+furions sprout (we had 4 melee).its like treant+enigma+warlock with one refresher each...
its a rare situation that some team makes more then 2 sheepsticks or 1 refresher(but its really stupid for the other team when that happens) so it wont change almost anything but would prevent such item abuse.

There was a rule which was forbiding to kick any ss player from a game. We talked a lot about it and we agreed to delete that rule, since host bot is private opportunity of a user , and he has right to chose who will play on it as long as we are talking about safelisted players.

@vamos there is already such rule in the rule book.
