This is a simple guide for how not to be a noob in a game called Dark Deeds.
Dark Deeds can be played from 3-10 players but i prefer 6-7 since to few players means its quite easy to find out who is evil while more players means crowded games where wars are fought just over good building spots.
There are 6 different evil types in DD and since there will most likely be 5 or more players that means you have <20% chance of being evil down to a 10% chance at full house game. This guide will therefore focus on building up your base as a normal farmer.
When starting out it is a good idea to think of the location you want to build in before or at the game start so you dont go wandering about like a noob. Check the attachments below for some good building spots which will be detailed later.
When building up remember THE FIRST NIGHT IS CRUCIAL. You dont know if someone near you is evil so you MUST BUILD UP ASAP in order to not die like a noob.
1. build a farm 1 space away from trees
2. get a wife
3. que 2 kids
4. send out your wife to gather some mushrooms or plants to sell so that you can make more kids and upgrade them to workers[pics below]
5. start building a barn preferably before or just as nightfall comes.
The obvious choice for this is your base entrance choke point[pics below]
6. if you are under immediate threat the go blacksmith so that you can recruit units or build a tower, if its quiet around you then save up 500 wood for a pig farm. when building a pig farm build it in the interior of your base so your pigs are less likely to go wandering outside of your base where they can die like noobs. remember less pigs = less income = less gold = BAD!
7. try to build up a camp fire or two during the day near your base so that you can see who is moving around or if evil is coming your way.
8. when you finish building a blacksmith promote your barn to a warehouse and save up for a chicken coop
9. upgrade your blacksmith and build a library
10. if you have fertile ground or a lake in/near your base build a granary buy a plant[wheat, corn, barley] and put it in fertile soil or if you have water near/in your base buy a bulrush and put it there. periodically check for weeds and remove them and of course sell a few plants when you need gold.
This pretty much sums up the basic build order of the start of the game. I will later go into detail about individual spots, army building and the 6 evils

This time I will go in more detail about most building spots their pros and cons and of course how not to be a noob.
Build spot #1 common
A fairly straightforward spot which provides good protection but is not very rich.
pros:
-fairly close so you can build sooner
-supports a castle
-a single barn is enough to barricade the entrance
-very close to town shops
cons:
-very common place
-no farmland
-no water
Build spot #2 common
Another easy to fortify position however care needs to be taken when building it up. on the farthest corner close to trees build a farm and above it construct the pig farm and the chicken coop. all other buildings are to be constructed near the farmland except the barn[warehouse] which blocks the entrance. This is done so that you will have enough room for a castle near your initial farm. Although easy to fortify this position has a major drawback-its far away from almost everything.
pros:
-a single barn is enough to barricade the entrance
-supports a castle
-has a farmland
cons:
-very far from basically everything
-takes a long time to get to
-no water
Build spot #3 common
A position well suited for teamwork but even for a solo farmer its an excellent choice.
pros:
-has a farmland
-has water
-supports 2 castles
-fairly close to your starting location
cons:
-very common place
-2 entrances
-needs 3 buildings to fully fortify
Build spot #4 uncommon
An uncommon position because of its unique flaw otherwise would make a very good build spot.
pros:
-a single barn is enough to barricade the entrance
-mushroom cave proximity
cons:
-lacks space
-no farmland
-no water
-BEARS!*
Build spot #5 rare
Being far away from the town and not on the patrol of the paladin and his town guard not to mention being very poor - mines are far away and no land to grow plants in or even water, and to top it off very little space to build means this is a very rare building spot
pros:
-a single barn is enough to barricade the entrance
-very rare building spot
-excellent spot if you are evil
cons:
-very far away
-no farmland
-no water
-no assistance from local militia
Build spot #6 uncommon
A building spot closest to the starting location and on high ground no less. This location is good for an early buildup but late game is hard because it lacks space and has a weak economy.
pros:
-a single barn is enough to barricade the entrance
-high ground
-mushroom cave proximity
-supports a castle...barely
cons:
-lacks space
-no farmland
-no water
Build spot #7 common
Another location suited for teamwork and the only team spot on the high ground this location has plenty of space but has hardly enough economy for a solo player let alone 2. If well fortified by 2 players nearly impossible to take.
pros:
-high ground
-supports 2 castles
-plenty of space even for 2 players
-very hard to take if well fortified
cons:
-no farmland
-no water
-takes a long time to get to
*when u get to this spot you will notice a sign waring you about bears. my first game on this spot was nice and quiet for the whole game however on my second try on the 2nd night the trees around the sign fell and a bunch of bears attacked my base from behind. you have been warned!

This part focuses on building and maintaining an army:
Building up your base and economy is of course vital part of your development strategy, but build-up alone cant win you the game. To achieve victory in these dark times you need to build a solid often specialized army from the purpose of stomping your enemy.
First of all a brief look on damage and armor types:
dmg types:
normal:
-extra dmg to medium
-reduced dmg to fortified
piercing:
-extra dmg to unarmored and light
-reduced dmg to fortified, medium and hero armor
spear
-extra dmg to heavy armor
-reduced dmg to unarmored, medium and hero armor
magic
-extra dmg to heavy armor
-reduced dmg to fortified, medium and hero armor
siege
-extra dmg to fortified and unarmored
-deals ½ dmg to all other armor types
evil
-reduced dmg to fortified
armor types:
unarmored:
-takes extra dmg from piercing, siege attack
-reduces dmg from spear attack
light:
-takes extra dmg from piercing attack
medium:
-takes extra dmg from normal attack
-reduces dmg from piercing, magic attack
heavy:
-takes extra dmg from spear, magic attack
fortified:
-takes extra dmg from siege attack
-reduces dmg from piercing, magic, normal, hero attack
hero:
-reduces dmg from piercing, magic, spear attack
-reduces dmg from spells
the units:
Knight [build limit 1]
attack damage:31-55
attack type: normal
armor type: heavy
armor value:17
hit points: 1000
abilities:command aura, divine shield
description:the best tank unit as well as harasser, the knight, when fully upgraded has a massive 17 armor, coupled with lots of hit points and his divine shield ability this makes the knight very hard to kill, even more so if he is being healed or has inner fire.
pros:
-excellent for killing enemy workers young men/women or chasing down his fleeing farmer.
-can take tramendous amounts of punishment
cons:
-very expensive
-vulnerable to spear and magic attacks
-can be hexed/frozen/slowed etc.
Beast Tamer [build limit 1]
attack1 damage:20-30[default attack]
attack1 type: normal
attack2 damage:20-30[vs buildings]
attack2 type: siege
range: 225
armor type: light
armor value:8
hit points: 575
abilities: bouncing glaive
description: although you need 30ddscore and a lot of resources to make her she is worth every bit. runs fast, has good sight and an attack that damages multiple units not to mention a secondary attack for destroying buildings overall a unique unit. and this unique unit more than gives back what you invest in it.
pros:
-very fast
-great sight range at night
-attack damages multiple enemies
-effective against both buildings and workers young men/women
cons:
-very expensive
-archer fodder
-low range
-requires 30dd score
Sorceress [build limit 1]
attack1 damage:28-44[default attack]
attack1 type: magic
attack2 damage:18-34[vs magic immunes]
attack2 type: piercing
range: 600
armor type: unarmored
armor value:2
hit points: 600
mana pool:600
abilities: magic immune,feedback,slow,hex,freeze,healing wave,purge*
description: the ultimate support unit. can disable multiple enemy units as well as heal your own. if you recruited the high sorcerer as your hero she can also learn purge which allows you to take control[permanently] of enemy units. in this way you can even go over your 80food cap
pros:
-can disable multiple enemy units
-has a very effective healing
-lets go over the 80 food limit[must have high sorcerer as hero]
cons:
-very expensive
-needs a lot of expensive upgrades to be useful
-falls easily to massed archer/sniper fire
Priest
attack damage:10-11
attack type: magic
range: 600
armor type: unarmored
armor value:0
hit points: 370
mana pool:400
abilities: feedback,heal,dispell,inner fire
description: while not so great on its own this unit is a must simply because dispell can remove negative[and positive] effects from entire armies. inner fire is good, heal is slow and not very effective in real combat. can be useful en masse to quickly burn away mana from mana dependant evils like pit lord/cultist or witch doctor
pros:
-dispell has a HUGE aoe and can be used on friends or foes or both
-is very cheap and doesnt require much food
cons:
-falls quickly to basically everything in combat
-its primary ability, heal, is not very effective in real combat
Militia
attack damage:15-20
attack type: normal
armor type: light
armor value:6
hit points: 220
abilities: evasion,berserk
description: a sucky early game unit which is the basis for many future units. on its own its not that great even with upgrades except for some early game harass
pros:
-is very cheap and doesnt require much food
cons:
-upgrades are a MUST
-become obsolete very early
Footman
attack damage:21-26
attack type: normal
armor type: heavy
armor value:14
hit points: 420
abilities: defend
description: a poor mans tank or an anti-archer/sniper unit this unit is rarely seen mainly because people rarely mass archers/snipers
pros:
-good hp and armor for a low cost
cons:
-excels only at fighting archers/snipers
Archer
attack damage:22-32
attack type: piercing
armor type: medium
range: 500
armor value:9
hit points: 280
abilities: slow poison
description: with good range and damage but low hp the archer is good for taking out enemy support units like the sorceress or priests. should also focus on hero or farmer because of their slow poison those units will be much less likely to escape.
pros:
-excellent at killing supporting units
-slows down enemies making escape hard
cons:
-low hit points
Spy
attack damage:40-45
attack type: normal
armor type: medium
armor value:8
hit points: 300
abilities: wind walk, pillage
description: good for early game harass but most importantly swift execution of farmers a group[4-5] of these can come into your base with ww and kill your farmer in 1 or 2 strikes
pros:
-excellent damage
-wind walk upgrade makes them faster and allows them to go through units
-attacks on buildings yield resources
cons:
-very weak in open combat
Spear Thrower
attack1 damage:21-36[default attack]
attack1 type: spear
attack2 damage:25-45[vs buildings]
attack2 type: siege
range: 300
armor type: heavy
armor value:12
hit points: 320
abilities: ensnare, burning oil
description: while not very effective against most units these guys are a great choice for destroying buildings and with the snare upgrade can be very useful for hunting down fleeing units. they also excel at killing the werewolf. with a group of spear throwers you can just keep netting the wolf until dawn
pros:
-good hp and armor for a ranged unit
-great for catching fleeing units
-spear attack is the best counter to tank units like knights or footmen
-great for taking down towers and other buildings
cons:
-fails miserably to archers or support units
-burning oil upgrade is at the end of tech tree
Sniper
attack damage:50-56
attack type: piercing
range: 900
armor type: medium
armor value:0
hit points: 100
abilities: long range
description: with dismal hp and no armor i wonder why to even bother with these guys. their damage is good and their range is above average but even with those qualities any unit can just walk up to them and kill them in a matter of seconds. at least they are trained from the building and dont require kids but still 5 food for a 100hp 0armor unit...no thanks.
pros:
-longer range than a tower and good damage
-doesnt require children
cons:
-about as durable as a child and children are at least magic immune
-no upgrades
-expensive
-requires a lot of food
-end of tech tree

i invested about 1½-2 hours in all of this and would probably need twice as much time to register on other forums and post this so i dont think i will bother. if someone else wants they can do it give me credits and hope there will be less dark deeds noobs in the future...though i highly doubt that since noobs are always in limitless supply
