What fuel equivalent do you sympathize?

As we all know the amount of fuel that we today utilize won't last forever. The day will come when humanity will have to make the right decision. So I'm asking You to select the fuel type you most sympathize that could sustain our glorious nation for years to come. Imagine if You have been given the chance to do it on your own.

P.S. This poll is for Biology project so this thing was made on-hurry. Also there is no explanation of current selections because I'll try to see what the difference is when people have the needed cons and pros of the materials and when they simply need to guess and rely on their own knowledge and opinion. The second part of this test will be published in another forum (far away from here, believe me). At the end of the week I'll collect the results and post them on these two forums also placing the links.

Please discuss. Your opinion is what matters. Please vote in the poll (I need reasonable results as fast as possible).

A new energy, future's new energy is bohr and it is only used with Hydrogen
So it must be hydrogen
*note: A big percentage of bohr belongs to American's

Solar energy is far the best. No pollution and it never ends up (oh it will end up in bilins of years...)

When it end human kind will end too :)
But still it is not enough even you use wind and solar energy...
If you live in California you get the most sun so you get the best solar energy and in Holland you get the best wind energy But if you are in china what will you do?
Will get some energy from The Great Wall???

It will end when there is no more hydrogen in space.
Btw, I heard that our planet Earth goes 1.5cm away from the Sun every year.

the fuel of the future . it has to be echological in any case . humans are disturbing the balance of nature by abusing the elements .

first we must master the recycling techology . then we will not need new sources of energy because the constant source will last forever due to recycling .

here is a bright future ( vision related to fuel type consumption ) : biofuel - recyclable and echological
here is a dark future : nuclear technology -dark sky , poisoned waters , radioactive materials all over the planet , diseases based on genetic mutations due to expoure to radiations .

most sf movies show that the earth will be corrupted due to humans consuming all natural resources .

and we all know how realistic hollywood movies really are...

if you ask me the most realistic way would be using hydrogen as main fuel (extracted from water) and self-renewing resources as a secondary source( wind, sun, tides and so on....)

nuclear energy might also be a good thing, but if a way of taking care of waste is found. ofc there is a new technology of fusion which is supposedly waste-free but we still need to put giant efforts in finding apropriate way of storing and controling those huge amounts of energy created in that fashion.ofc i'm no expert at this area (nuclear energy) so don't take my words for granted

im 2 bored to read all ur posts, sry,.
I think It'll be a nuclear energy,. the only thing is they need to figure out how to control the god damn fusion without turning it into a termo-nuclear reaction = BIG BADA BOOM !!

but u gotta look it from other side,..

with energy from one atomic bomb,. u would pay for electricity less than u pay for water,.. so ...

if they found smth that would give u to pay 1 $ for a year suppliment of energy for everything u use , EVERY SINGLE OIL/GAS STATION which worth more billion dollars will worth 0 . so there is a chance that it is alrdy discovered , but they are just not lettin' it go public...

its ****d up situation actually,.. It's like if they found out some ultimate cure for everything (potion of invulrnebility ) all doctors would suck a big ****!..who needs an airplane when they can fly ?

from what documentaries i saw on discovery they plan to create a hydrogen extraction facility on the moon and planets with ice in them so when they travel in space they can recharge the fuel reserves in space ..

from what i see now .... non-echological sources of energy should be forbidden.. it is like damaging the planet .... like a crime .. humans are already destroying the planet and at this we may live to see the end of the world :)

Hydrogen all the way, space is full with it.

Solar and Hydrogen energy are the best. If they can in this moment create engine that runs on this energy types (but they are really expensive), in future standard vehicle could go on this energy/fuel. The question is when will the big corporations start to put more money in this type of research (like they put in research of petrol fuel)...

I saw a car being researched in a hungarian university which doesn't have fuel. It uses electricity. There is a large capacitor in it (you know how quickly capacitors improve these days...) which can store electric energy without any loss and without any pollution. This is what it makes so impressive. And you can easily recharge them! Of course, capacitors doesn't generate energy, they just store them. You have to generate energy too. I think nuclear reactors should play a great roll in this, but really-really good operators are needed to ensure the safety. The radioactive waste should be treated carefully too. Of course radioactive energy is not enough, because they can not follow the fluctuation of the need of energy, so you have to have other sources. Maybe solar power can be one of it or some bio-energy.
About solar energy: it seems to be pollutionfree, but it's not!!! The solar cells are very expensive and they have a short life, then you have to do something with them...and don't forget: plants need the energy of the sun too, don't steal it from them.
Wind energy is expensive, and it doesn't generate much energy. It's not worth building them.
Other option: maybe hydrogen could be used as a fuel. What it makes really dangerous, that it explodes with oxygene. If your car crashes, there will be a really big BOOOOOOM. Cars useing hydrogen as fuel should be made very safe. And of course, you can only store energy in hydrogen, you have to get it from somewhere (nuclear reactors for example)
Well, that's my opinion.

I didn't know about this Tesla Roadster:)
I think it has future. It stores electrical energy in batteries, but as i said, capacitors do improve a lot nowodays, maybe one day they can replace batteries. Now the Tesla roadster is expensive, but in 20-30 years maybe electrical cars will be faster and cheaper. And don't forget: If you store energy in capacitor, it is possible to charge them even while braking (minimal loss of energy during braking). The only loss will be the hilarious frictional loss and the larger loss made by the aerodynamic force. That would be cool, but now it's only a future plan.

ok, i"ll read your questions and write something on them in the other thread.

From all the options i vote Hydrogen.Allready i've seen some documentaries that test Hydrogen on diferent vehicles to see how they work..prototypes....and they work just fine the polution seems to be reduced considerably.

Probably yes. But i have some fears about safety.

The vehicles must be done very strong, the hydrogen must be isolated very properly in order to prevent hydrogen to meet oxygen even at high speed collision because the consequences would be...astonishing. The hydrogene-oxygene mixture (not water ofc :)) is very dangerous.

Yep, technology will improve but it's all about time. Will scientists develop them adequately before or after oil runs out? While in the mean time, the prices continue to rise. That is the real pressure.

If we will be starting to run out of oil we will notice it: prices will be very high as you said. Less and less people will be able to afford having a car. This will result in a decrease of traffic, decrease of the need of oil, the rise of the prices will slow down. Fortunately, it's not a self-inducting proccess, so if there's less oil in the Earth humanity will use less. The cars will vanish slowly, not from one moment to the other (except if something very drastical happens, war or anything)
But: less cars result a greater demand for mass transportation. The prices of tickets will rise too, but not so much. The price of the oil doesn't have any effect on trains, subways etc., they will be affordable. However, the quality of mass transportation (at least in hungary) is not good, it needs to improve a lot.

A ZPM module would improove our energy consume. :)
Pitty it is just a result of our imagination...but what the heck...maby we will find a high-tech fuel...that doesnt poluate, gives massive amount of energy and cost low.
At least i hope we (humanity) find this.
