Urgent: How do you play on battlenet?

How do you play on battlenet? i have war3 and ft installed runned the w3battle patch. And added the server with bnetgatewayeditor. Are these the steps that should work?

Instal W3, then TFT, apply 1.16 patch, apply w3battle.exe installer, run the game via the "Warcraft 3 FTF PvPGN" shortcut, get on the Bnet.
Make sure that w3.exe is allowed to make internet connection if ya are using a firewall.

Cool it worked but when i had restarted my pc it didnt work anymore it said youre trying to connect to a invalid battlenet server or using modem or something. BUT i got a huger problem warcraft 3 and ft wont work anymore AT ALL!!!! when i start it the screen goes black and you can only see the mouse pointer, but the pc isnt responding to anything. And waiting doesnt seem to help. Also reiinstalling war3 or ft doesnt help, Whatever i do warcraft 3 WONT START :( :@
