World premiere was on Greece at March 8th ;) I loved the movie, one part i hated was the way they pronnounced "Leonidas", i mean it was like Leonaidas when it's meant to be Leoneedas!~

Its not based on the actual historical events,though the general story is correct.Its based on a comic,and the idea of the director is to transform that comic book into a spectacular hi-tech movie.Thats why Persians appear like monsters,they were not any kind of monsters in real.
Anyway its a great film to show the incredible bravery and determination of Spartan ppl,they were the only ancient ppl that dedicated ALL of their life into practisin for combat,exercisin their bodies from as soon as they could walk,learnin to withstand every pain and fear nothin,learnin to never leave the field of battle no matter the odds,to defend their pride at any cost.

I could say this will be the best historical/battle movie ever. I've seen some bloody battle clips.

story goes in myth that they eat on earth after battle and probably eat dinner in hell.

Btw the rest of the greek army who were originally sent to Thermopylae to fight alongside the spartans were 7000,and not only Arcadians as appear in the film,there were Athenians,Corinthians,and many from Thebes.
Thebes were also known to have a very brave army,and a special "elite forces" called the Sacred Bond.
And truth is that not only the other greeks left when Efialtes' betrayal became known,but Leonidas himself insisted to send them back so they could prepare a bigger army to defeat Xerxes,as they did in the end.
blah they made mistake in movie cause there was no "hell" in ancient greece , there was hades which wasn't hell it was just afterlife.
There were several sections of Hades, including the Elysian Fields (contrast the Christian Paradise or Heaven), and Tartarus, (compare the Christian Hell). Greek mythographers were not perfectly consistent about the geography of the afterlife.

Wow, i just saw this thread, got 300, watched it with some friends and what i can say is only.... THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!!!!! :laugh:, rlly nice movie... i think the creator inspired a bit from The Last Samurai at the end of the 300's, died with honor^^... still it has unique scenes, and i rlly enjoy it.

hmmm i dont know much about Spartans heroic acts... but u cant deny the fact that Samurais didnt fought and died only with honor left,as i saw some films on discovery channel long time ago^^.
