This F.A.Q. is created for users that use router, but still cannot host and for thoose who dont use router and also cannot host.
First of all: If You are using a router or You are on LAN, You should Forward the Ports 6112 TCP and 6112 UDP on router...
but for Sure forward by 6112 - 6119 TCP and 6112 - 6119 UDP. There's an item under this one explaining that already...
Now when You forwarded Your ports (for users with router ONLY), You need to configure Your Firewall properly to Allow Ports 6112 - 6119 TCP and UDP, if Your Windows XP firewall is SP1 Firewall so here is what to do:
Start -> Control Panel -> (Your Conection) -> Right Click -> Propeties -> Avanced -> If Your firewall is enabled Then the Box should be marked... if not then it is not active...
Now: If the mark is enabled - Remove the mark in the box, Accept settings and restart Your connection. If You still cannot host, it means that You still have problems with the ports, or just dont have a static IP.
If the mark is disabled - If You cannot host, it means that You still have problems with the ports, or just dont have a static IP.
How to get a static IP ? Start -> Control Panel -> Connection Options -> (Your Conection) -> Right Click -> Propeties -> Network -> TCP / IP - > Propeties
Let this window stay open. Now:
Start -> Launch -> cmd
Type ipconfig /all
You should get a lot of informations...
now You just need to fill the Boxes of TCP / IP window with the infos that the ipconfig gave to You...
If Your DNS server starts with 192.168... Then Your DNS Server should be wrong... to config it rightly You should call Your Service Provider and Ask for the Right DNS Server IP...
We hope that this will help!
thats it
